Sandtray Therapy

Sandtray therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses a sandtray and miniature objects/figures to represent the client’s inner thoughts and feelings. The sandray provides a space for clients to express themselves and process negative experiences and past traumas from a safe distance. This non-verbal approach can be used with those who struggle to find the words to express what is happening inside of themselves.

Sandtray can be used with Internal Family Systems (IFS) to gain insight into one’s internal world. Representing different parts with the figures helps the client get more perspective of how parts are working with or against each other. Clients gain a better understanding of their protectors and exiles and how their internal system works.
