Safe and Sound Protocol

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an evidence-based listening therapy designed to reduce sound sensitivities and improve auditory processing, behavioral state regulation, and social engagement behaviors through filtered music. As a practical application of Polyvagal Theory, the SSP acts as a non-invasive, acoustic vagal nerve stimulator, helping to retune the nervous system to better support connection, collaboration and resilience. The SSP involves listening to specially filtered music through headphones alongside a provider in person or remotely. Suitable for children and adults, the SSP has demonstrated benefits for individuals with trauma, anxiety, sensory processing differences and more.

Polyvagal Theory: the Science of Feeling Safe

Developed by world-renowned researcher and Unyte’s Chief Scientific Advisor, Dr. Stephen Porges, Polyvagal Theory focuses on what is happening in the body and the nervous system, and explains how our sense of safety, danger or life-threat can impact our behavior. Understanding Polyvagal Theory gives us a scientific framework that can be applied through physiological, or “bottom-up” therapies, to help change and improve how we feel, think and connect with others. Rest and Restore Protocol

The Rest and Restore Protocol™ (RRP) enhances existing treatments by using specially designed musical themes to support the body’s natural healing processes. Grounded in research on physiological rhythms, RRP helps regulate the autonomic nervous system. Delivered through the Unyte platform by certified providers, RRP includes five hours of Sonocea® Enhanced music. It works alongside other therapies to provide a more balanced and comprehensive healing experience.

RRP has been reported to help clients:

  • Become more accessible to therapy

  • Enhance autonomic regulation

  • Improve gut function

  • Feel more relaxed, calm, and at ease

  • Sleep better

  • Feel less anxious and depressed

  • Have greater access to their feelings

Developed by Dr. Stephen Porges and Anthony Gorry, the Rest and Restore Protocol™ (RRP) is a new clinical-grade listening therapy designed to calm and restore both mental and physical functioning.

RRP combines decades of scientific research on the body’s physiological rhythms with advanced sound technology to create a music program that promotes deep relaxation and healing. The carefully engineered acoustic signals work with body’s natural rhythms to help restore balance.

RRP’s unique approach to regulating neural rhythms through musical themes provides a non-invasive and accessible way to promote relaxation, restore balance, and enhance overall well-being.
